About Sutherland Chimney Sweeping Service

Hello, I’m Stuart Arthur, and after thatching and sweeping chimneys in Devon for the last 40 years, I have moved to beautiful Sutherland, concentrating solely on sweeping chimneys.

I have swept thousands of chimneys, many on thatched roofs, so safety and attention to detail have always been important.

I am a member of the  Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps, which has a high membership standard and insists on a refresher course every five years.

I aim to provide a clean and reliable service and to always respond to an enquiry.  So, if you contact me, I will always reply.

I am insured for £2 million and issue a certificate for every chimney I sweep.  Each sweep involves a visual inspection inside and out, a smoke test, a general fuel quality assessment, and an appliance assessment.  These days safety is paramount, so CO monitors are recommended.  I can supply these if required.

The area I cover goes from Tain and the Black Isle and right up to the North Coast but I concentrate mainly around Dornoch, Lairg, Bonar Bridge, Golspie, Brora and Helmsdale.

Help Me to Help You

One problem in the chimney sweeping business is everyone wants their chimney swept in September!

This means all chimney sweeps are fully booked from September to Christmas with no space for emergency call outs.  My solution to this is to send a reminder for the next sweep. This means work is spread throughout the year with no long periods of being fully booked (it also helps me).

No one thinks of having their chimney swept in May but it is a very good time to have it done. After the nesting season and before the burning season.
